An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale jolted the western tip of Java Island in Ujungkulon, West Java, on Thursday afternoon. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damages.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency reported that the quake hit at 3.59 p.m. with the epicenter located 185 kilometers southwest of Ujungkulon or 312 kilometers southwest of Jakarta.
A day earlier, a magnitude 5.5 quake hit Krui in Lampung, southern Sumatra.
Both areas are located near Mount Anak Krakatau, which has been erupting continually for more than a week.
Mount Anak Krakatau is located near Krakatau Island, between the islands of Sumatra and Java. It was continuing to spew volcanic materials and toxic gases.(jakartapost )
